Unlearning

 An institution initially built as a catch-all for the children of a growing farming population guided by a narrow definition of education, this scene represents a struggle to wrest control of our futures through the examination of:
Abandonment, the result of isolation from privilege, access, and equal opportunity;
Destruction, the product of a broken trust between a community’s people and its “leaders;” and,
Governance, intended/designed to train a lower class to wake up to an alarm clock and follow orders from those who would see the choices, opportunities, and potential of a people limited; so that the many can spend a lifetime serving the few.
However, the failure of this experiment called education is made all the more pointed by the words and symbols left in the wake of an initial destruction betraying a misguided passion — an Ignorant cry.
Uncertain of who to blame or where to direct such rage, it is sometimes towards that which is understood least.

But there is a twist on this path of dissent; after the glass was shattered and the doors kicked in, we see that with inevitability Nature has slowly begun to forge a way forward.
All works will be presented as 1/8" acrylic face-mounted HD-C prints.
